A New Pet Peeve

I've recently discovered a new pet peeve of mine- when you text someone and they don't have the courtesy to text back. Its such a slap in the face, especially when its a text inviting them to do something with you. I know I have been guilty of this, but it has happened so much to me lately that im making a vow to change. Its just so rude and inconsiderate, especially because you know no one goes more than a few hours without looking at their cell phones these days. I really do hate being ignored! It hurts me to know that my friends care so little.

Not all bad...

Today Justin and I were discussing some of our favorite Valentines Days from the past. I have to admit I always referred to this day as S.A.D. (Single Awareness Day) but after talking to my hubby today I realized they were not all bad. Here are the top four I could think of:

4. I can't remember what year in Jr. High it was but one year all of our guy friends decided to buy all the girls flowers. See our school would sell flowers the week before and then on Valentines Day they would be delivered in class, so of course you felt awful if you didn't get one. Anyway, that year I got quite a few and it definitely brightened my day. (Thanks Jack, Aaron, Sean, Scott, and Dave! You honestly were some of the best guy friends a girl could ask for!

3. Another year in Jr. High I got called out of math class because my dog was in labor. Puppies were a great Valentines Day present!! (So was skipping math class!)

2. Last year. Last year my roommates and I decided to not be miserable. So we did what we do best, throw a party! We had heart shaped sugar cookies, played games, and passed out elementary type Valentines. It was lots of fun. If you have to be single on that day, you might as well do it with all of your other amazingly awesome and just as single friends too!

1. TODAY! Celebrating this day with the man of my dreams has been amazing. Justin sure does put up with a lot, and I love him so much for it! As cliche as this sounds, he is my prince charming!

I hope you all had an awesome day as well! And always remember, I LOVE YOU!

Advice Please!

What do you do when people in your life just do not like you? And its not people you can just cut out? You pretty much have to see them all the time for the rest of your life. Have any of you been in a similar situation? What did you do???

Too much spare time?

I have a lot of spare time on my hands, which means I am reading a lot! And sorry that I have done so many books in Children's Lit but that's by far my favorite genre. Today I finished 'The Cay' by Theodore Taylor. It takes place during WWII. This story deals with war, racism, love, survival, and is an amazing adventure story. Apparently its a movie but I haven't seen it .... yet. Anyway, I really liked reading it again. Its short. Easy. And entertaining. I sometimes had a hard time putting it down in fact.

Visitors

Today I had three random cats follow me right into my apartment. They stayed for about three hours and I fed them, played with them, and even had a little cuddle time. When it was time to leave they stood by the door, gave a little 'meow' and I let them out. I hope they come to visit again some time. It was nice to have some company while Justin slept. It also put me in a rather good mood. Yay for animal therapy sessions!!

Another Good One

Last night I finished reading "The Witch of Blackbird Pond", and absolutely loved it! I've read it before but it had been so long I couldn't even remember what happened. Its about a girl named Kit who grew up in Barbados but has to move to the colonies in America to live with her only surviving relatives. She is used to growing up wild and free, running around on the beach, and has a hard time fitting into the strict Puritan society of Connecticut where people are suspicious of everything and everyone. Its a good book. I think you'll like it.

Bad. Bad. Bad News

A week ago from today Justin got some bad news- his doctor called to tell him he is diabetic. Its been a pretty rough week for my man, he definitely didn't take the news too well. Im super proud of him though! He hasn't had a bit of sugar or pop all week. He has to go off of carbs, sugars, candy, pop, and even fruit. So mostly he is on a strict meat and veggie diet. He goes back to the doc in three months to see if its gotten worse which would mean he would have to start testing and giving himself insulin shots. Hopefully we can get it under control though.

Better

This week is the first time I finally feel better since going off of Cymbalta (see my earlier post entitled 'kill me now'). Yesterday was my first day back in the gym and it felt amazing! Going through this process of drug withdrawal has not only been a living hell, but it's also opened my eyes (just a little) to the seriousness of drugs. If withdrawal from a prescription can be that horrendous, I don't even want to think about how much worse real drug withdrawal is. Ugh. It makes me cringe just thinking about it! Thank my lucky stars I grew up with the word of wisdom! (Don't know about The Word of Wisdom? Learn about it at lds.org).

So anyway, fortunately for me all of the symptoms have gone away except for one. On occasion my body starts convulsing unexpectedly. I shake and shake,  almost like im freezing my butt off. Its definitely one of the easier symptoms to handle, just a little weird maybe. Hopefully that ends soon though and I'll be back to 100% normal soon. Im SO glad I got off of that stupid medication!!

The Divine Calling of Motherhood

It's late. I need to be in bed right now, but the pull to write is stronger than the pull of my night time meds, so .... here I am. T...
