The Many Adventures of the Three Musketeers

Every time Emily, Kylie and I are together we always manage to have some sort of grand adventure. This weekend the three of us decided to go camping. It was a blast and a half. We decided we didn't want to waste any money on gas so we drove about five miles into Logan canyon and found the prettiest campsite. We got there kind of late so had to set up the tent in the dark, which was our first adventure of the trip seeing as I had never used my tent before.

Adventure number two happened while we were eating dinner around the campfire. We are sitting there and all of a sudden we hear this "crunch crunch. nibble nibble. crunch." We start looking for the source of the sound and conclude that there is some kind of animal in the bushes behind us. We try to scare it off but never see it so we go back to eating dinner. (Keep in mind that after we hear this noise, Kylie and Emily get more chips.) So then we hear it again. Crunch nibble crunch. Emily says that she thinks she saw the bag of chips move a little, but then we just decide that it's the bag untwisting itself. Nope. I look back and the bag gives this huge lurch. I jump to my feet, with Emily and Kylie right behind me. Kylie picks up a rock and chucks it at the bag of chips and we see this mouse run out of there. We started freaking out. We sneak up to the bag and poke and prod at it making sure there was nothing else in there. Luckily there wasn't. But how gross! Especially because Kylie and Emily ate the chips after we heard the noise the first time! Ewww!

Our third adventure was much less exciting but still somewhat intense. It happened while we were sleeping. I woke up to hear something walking through our campground. It sounded like it was right next to our tent. When we woke up the next morning there were two huge piles of different kinds of poo right in our campsite. Which means we had TWO large animals only a few feet away from us. Scary!

The rest of the day was not as full of adventure but it was still a lot of fun. We all took a nap around the campfire and I read Harry Potter. We played Quiddler. And then we went on a walk and found this really cool amphitheater with scary rooms underneath it. We also saw the biggest rabbit I have ever seen. And lastly, we found this trail and went on a hike which was absolutely gorgeous. We were all tired by the end of the hike but I am glad we went on it.

It was a really fun weekend and it makes me want to go camping again and again and again.

Favorite Moments....

This week has been full of some really good moments. Here are a few of my favorites....

- A girl was sitting on a bench in front of the TSC crying. A boy sits down next to her and says: "Hi. My name is Tyler. Are you okay? You need to smile. There is no reason to be sad at Utah State University!"

- In Shakespeare we are reading 'Much Ado About Nothing'. In this play there is a character named Don John who is the bastard brother to Don Pedro. We started discussing Don John and my teacher screams at the top of her lungs, "THAT BASTARD!....Oh. You can say those kinds of things when it comes to Shakespeare. That's why I love him!" haha

- My Anthropology of Religion teacher pointed out that Brigham Young would not be able to attend Brigham Young University with his hair and beard. Very True!

- My roommate Kenzi gave the rest of the roommates a maturation lesson. "Well. See. You're a woman."

- My roommate Emily made the most delicious "upside down disaster cake". Both funny and good.

- In my math class a girl had a question that the teacher was not doing a very good job at answering. When he asked her if she was okay, she said "Im.... fine." His response was, "Yeah. I have been married long enough to know what that means. --> Just shut up and leave me alone!"

-On Friday all of my siblings and I went to The Lion King at the capitol theater. There just are not words to describe a Broadway. I LOVED it!

- On Saturday I went to my little brother's football game. I am such a proud sister. He is getting really good. There was one play where he tackled a kid and put him flat on the ground with one arm. They totally slaughtered the other team. I am so happy I got to see him.

I know there were others but that's all I can remember for now. This week has just been full of very funny moments. If I think of the rest of them I will add to the list. All I have to say is, I LOVE COLLEGE!

Labor Day Weekend Happenings

This weekend was such a good weekend!

It started out with a bang on Thursday. Thursday was my birthday and although I am not a fan of getting older I had a great birthday. The festivities started on Wednesday night when my roommate Emily gave me my birthday present. She made me a home made quilt! I was so excited! I absolutely love it and have slept with it every night since. I can't even believe she did that for me. Then we had Otter Pops at midnight complete with a candle. (There is a story behind the candle but it's too embarrassing to tell so if you want the dirty details you'll have to talk to Emily! haha) Thursday morning I slept in, made myself a nice big breakfast, and then drove home to Fruit Heights. Mom and I went shopping for some stuff and then that night we had a BBQ outside with some extended fam and some of my favorite foods: steak, corn on the cob, funeral potatoes, and pink goop. It was deeee-licious. I then opened presents and we ate cake and ice cream. I am happy to announce that I am now a certified camper! I got a tent, sleeping bag, air mattress, air mattress blower upper thingy, lantern, and cooler. I am so excited to go test out all my new gear! Anyone wanna go camping with me?! :) I drove home that night and when I got to my apartment there was a big candy poster waiting for me. Oh Emily. She is such a good friend. So since my birthday was not quite over yet Emily and I went to McDonalds and got hot fudge Sundays. We came back to our apartment to eat them and watched an episode of Punky Brewster. "Oh Henry"

Saturday was another Bear Lake day. SO much fun! The weather was fantastic! And in case Emily hadn't done enough for me already, she made me a birthday cake and brought it to Bear Lake. This cake was very 'Cake Boss'. It depicted a lake scene complete with a sun, sky, lake, and ground up graham crackers for the sandy beach. Yum!

On Sunday I drove to Clear Creek to go camping with my family and the Butt family. It was a lot of fun. We rode four wheelers, played with the dogs, sat by the campfire, ate a ton, and played lots and lots of games. I taught my mom and Jessica how to play Nerts and they are totally addicted now. We played a lot of Pirates and even got my dad to join in on a couple of rounds. We also played Farkle, Skipbo, and Slap Jack. Jessica pulled a prank on me that was epic. We were sitting around the campfire and she gets up and asks me to hold her drink, which I do. As I take it I start wondering why its warm but just assume that it must be hot apple cider. Then the smell hits me. Yup. That's right. I am sitting there holding her pee! That dirty rotten skunk! She got me good! I can't even tell you how nasty that was! I think I washed my hands for a good ten minutes! SICK! If you have any ideas on how to prank her back let me know!

The Divine Calling of Motherhood

It's late. I need to be in bed right now, but the pull to write is stronger than the pull of my night time meds, so .... here I am. T...
