Thanksgiving FFF (Forced Family Fun)

Thanksgiving this year was off the charts amazing! I don't even know why! It was just SO good!! This year we had the dinner in good old Fruit Heights. I have never had Thanksgiving at my house and I was really stoked! This year was spent with the Wright side of the family....always good for a laugh or two! We had an amazing dinner of course, and afterward had an ugly sweater contest, complete with a runway walk to show off the ugly! You should have seen my grandma! Wow can she model a sweater! ha ha it was awesome! After that everyone went out back to play some mean basketball lightning games. And man did it get intense! Unfortunately my basketball skills were kind of lacking, and I never won a game. Surprisingly my dad won a lot! Who knew the old man still had it in him?? And Brother won a lot too! Guess the basketball court is really paying off! They have got some seriously mad skill!! We then gorged ourselves with pie....mm mm, pie! Then comes my favorite part. The Turkey Run! This is one of my favorite family traditions! Its a way to honor the bird by giving him one last flight around the yard. We stuff the carcass of the Turkey on a stick, and line up at intervals all around the yard. You then run the turkey around the yard, passing it from person to person. The last person puts it in its final resting place, a.k.a. the dumpster. Its crazy fun! I know it sounds weird, but hey, my family is weird! And I wouldn't prefer it any other way!!! Everyone kind of split up after that. There was some guitar hero going on. Some serious story telling. Some games, some tv. And then me of course who had to get that "after eating so much I want to die nap" in there. So really nothing too exciting, but tons and tons of fun! By far one of the best Thanksgivings I have ever had!!

Saturday Adventures w/ Kels and Riss

Saturday was the first day that we finally got the fabulous trio together again! Oh what fun times we have! Kelsey, Lorissa, and I drove down to Salt Lake City....for no particular reason....just to do something. We ended up going to the Family Christmas Gift Expo in Sandy, which was actually pretty cool! Lorissa won us some free candy by dropping a quarter into a shot glass at the bottom of fish bowl - She's got some mad quarter dropping skill let me tell ya! I just wish we could have stayed longer! There was so much to look at! After that we went to Fazoli's for dinner. I am so bummed that we don't have one of those in Logan because it is quite delectable!! We tried to decide what to do next....and decided to see if we could find David Archuleta's house. Kels and I are insanely in love with that boy, and it sounded like a good adventure to us! Riss is such a good sport! ha ha So we asked Cha Cha what David's parents names were and then looked them up in the borrowed Fazoli's phone book. They were listed and we used the GPS on my phone to find the address...and we found it! We walked past his house like a dozen times....Lorissa was trying to talk us into ringing the doorbell, but we were too chicken to do it. Plus it was getting kind of late. We ended up taking a fast picture though. Sadly I look awful in the picture because I was cold and nervous we were going to get caught, but ah well. At least I have a picture! After that little adventure we drove back to Logan and went up to Old Main to take some pictures. It was freezing, but fun! And VERY FUNNY! ha ha wow! I just love those two to death! They are seriously the coolest people you will ever meet!

The Big 25

This week was my parents 25'th anniversary....whew! They made it! Who would have ever thought they could last that long?! Not me! ha ha but I am SO glad that they did!! It has been pretty stressful on Cassie and I planning this thing! Oh boy! Trying to come up with what to do, what to give them, and how to make it look nice while being cheap....not any easy thing to do! Luckily it all came together and worked out perfectly! We sent Mom and Dad to eat at The Roof for dinner, with a beautiful corsage and boutonniere I might add, and as soon as they left we went into crazy panic mode and set up everything for a small surprise party for them. We had two chocolate fountains, tons of food, cake, and ice cream. Cassie and I were in charge of the food, Zach and Jess were in charge of the decorations- which looked great guys! The big shocker of the night was that we actually pulled off surprising them! That is a miracle in and of itself because I am THE WORST LIAR in all the world!! And my parents ALWAYS figure it out, or at least suspect something. But we pulled it off superbly! It was a good night and everything went very smoothly! We made them one of those picture slideshows with all the old family pictures. It turned out great. My mom watched it at least five times that night.... I think she cried every time! We have cake and chocolate coming out of ears now, so we will all probably be really fat for a while, but its all good! Cake and chocolate are definitely worth it! Honestly, I am just relieved its over! Good luck on the 50'th Jessica and Zach! Cassie and I are DONE!! Woo Hoo!!!!

Dancin' in Paint and Cleanin' the Sink!

This week was Homecoming week here at USU, which meant that adventures were sure to come! On Monday the Roomies and I danced the night away at the annual paint dance. It was so much fun! Paint was flying around us every which way and we got covered from head to foot! We were right in the middle of the mosh pit, and me being the dummy I am, wore flip flops. If you have ever been in a mosh pit, you know that this is not a wise thing to do! My feet got trampled! I lost half a toe nail, and had big bloody sores and scrapes all over my feet. When I woke up the next morning the end of my bed was covered in blood from my feet. It hurt like heck-a-roonie! But boy was it worth it! I have taken plenty of showers since that night, but I still have a spot on my shoulder that is still to this day tinted blue! Also the cracks in my hands are still blue too! Oh what fun!! Here are some pictures of that wonderful night.....
We Make Paint Look GOOOOD!!!
Shalese and I Bringin' Sexy Back

It took FOREVER AND A DAY to get this out of my hair!
It kinda hurt too!
And took lots and lots of shampoo!!!!
I'm Blue! da ba dee da ba dye

On Friday we decided to go out to dinner since none of us got asked to the dance, and we didn't want to sit at home as losers. We went to Angie's because that is a Logan tradition that we had yet to take a part of. We decided to take on the challenge of "cleaning the sink"....we didn't exactly know what we were getting ourselves into, but we REALLY wanted that sticker!!! Just in case you aren't aware of what cleaning the sink actually is, its where they fill a "sink" full of ice cream, and we are talking A LOT of ice cream, and if you eat it all you get a sticker that says "I cleaned the sink at Angies". I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but oh my! I have never seen so much ice cream in my entire life! We four girls dug in and got the job done! (And were very, very sick all night afterwards!) Here is some pictures documenting the experience....
THE SINK

The BIG, BIG sink

I Scream!
You Scream!
We All Scream,
For Ice Cream!

It was worth it!
Look at that dang awesome sticker!
And boy did we earn it!

Life Savers of the World! .......aka...... Home Teachers!

I got my first flat tire this week. No big deal right? WRONG! I have no idea how to change a tire! None whatsoever! This was such a huge pain in the butt! I had no idea who to call or where to go to get help. I was completely stranded. I ended up walking to work in the freezing cold which was not at all fun! I called my one and only guy friend in Logan, but he was working his other job all day so was not able to help me out. My roommates were out of town. Urgh. It just all around sucked! I guess I did not realize just how much I depend on my car. I finally ended up calling my home teacher (Gee. Why didn't I think of this before??) and he was more than happy to help. He even checked my other tires and told me where to go to get the flat one fixed. (The spare was a really small tire that wouldn't last long) I was so relieved that he was so happy and willing to help. I don't know why, but asking for help has always been really hard for me, but he made it virtually painless! Heavenly Father definitely knew what he was doing when he assigned us all a home teacher! I have had many home teachers make my life a lot easier while I am away from home going to school up here. So basically this is a blog saying "Thank Heavens for home teachers!!!"

Aggies kickin some Ute trash!

Last Friday I went to the hockey game against U of U. It was awesome!! Definitely the coolest game I have EVER been too! Whew! Hockey has got to be the greatest sport in the entire world! During that game alone there were at least three huge fights that broke out. One of them was a pretty bloody fight too! This guys face was all torn up. During the game four Utes and two Aggies got kicked out of the building for violence! I have seen plenty of penalty boxes, but never kicked out of the game! It was absolutely ridiculous! The final score was 13 to 2! We totally kicked trash! .... unfortunately we weren't as lucky at the football game... but that is just too depressing to talk about. *sigh*

Do You Hear The People Sing?

This past weekend my mom surprised me with a trip to St. George to see Les Miserables for my birthday. It was such a fun weekend! We drove down on Friday, listening to show tunes the entire way of course. We checked into our hotel, which was freaking sweet! I got my own bed and four pillows all to myself! Woo! We went shopping - I got some new clothes and three new books which I am so incredibly stoked about! (Read The Host, its awesome!) After shopping we went to this little hawaiian grill restraunt that was delicous! I got this salad with pineapple chuncks, almonds, and grapes in it! Yummy!!! After dinner we went to the movie "House Bunny" - pretty funny, but maybe a little too dirty for my taste!
Then on Saturday we slept in, I ran to McDonalds in my pajama's before they stopped serving breakfast, and we layed by the pool. I think I wasn't turned directly towards the sun because only one side of me got burned, kinda funny, kinda sad at the same time! ha haThere were a bunch of cousins in the pool that were incredibly loud so we didn't stay too long, but long enough for me to feel the burn! We went back to our hotel to get ready for the big show, and it started raining SO HARD! We were both freaking out that the show was going to be cancelled because its at an outdoor theater - like seriously! - When I saw the rain and lightning my heart fell out my butt! No joke! We drove to the theater in the down pouring rain, ate dinner and watched it rain, finished dinner - still raining! But then, at the last minute, the clouds parted and the sun came out! It was a miracle!! (Praying about the weather works wonders!) The show will go on! Whew! As we were waiting for them to open the doors we were people watching. We played the "shoe game" and "Do the couples go together". Judging people is wrong, but it sure can be funny sometimes! ha ha Anyway, we had pretty decent seats, even if my mom didn't think so. ;) Les Miserables is the most amazing musical of all time! It was incredible!! The music hits your heart with so much force! The cast did an amazing job! Jean ValJean was the only one that I didn't really like the voice, but everyone else was superb! There were fireworks and a real cannon during the war scene. They had the soldiers posted on the mountain side behind the stage! It was breathtaking! They even had a horse, a sheep, and a pig in some of the scenes. I loved watching this amazing show outside under the stars, I don't think I have ever experienced anything quite like it! It was such a great weekend!

This summer I was forced to turn to the Amish way of life, well not really, but we can pretend. I haven't had TV for about four months now, its amazing I survived! Summer, for me, without TV is like a fish without water! Its no bueno! But at our little roommate meeting on Monday we decided that this way of life just had to stop! I mean what we would do without American Idol, Grey's Anatomy, House, and The Office??!!! Our lives would just not be complete without them! We got a Comcast flier that had a deal for USU students. It ended up only costing each roommate five dollars a month! Totally worth it! I am happy to report that I am no longer Amish, just a social outcast due to the fact that my nose is know glued to the TV. I have been deprived for so long, I have a lot of catching up to do!!

Completely Clueless!

Today I had to go birthday shopping for my friend Jack, who is on a mission. So I'm at Walmart in the check out line and I realize that I forgot my debit card... bummer! So I look in my purse and luckily find a checkbook. I fill out the check and hand it to the cashier, and of course it doesn't work the first time. He asks to see my drivers license and as he looks at my picture he says "Are you sure that's you? You look too young." And I'm like "uh. ya. thats me." so he puts in my drivers license number and then it asks for my phone number. I give it to him, and he's like "Wait. I should write that down." (wink) I'm like ok? So he hands me a peice of paper that I need to sign my name on, and I ask if he needs my phone number. "Only if you want to give it to me." (wink again) So I write my number on the paper and he says thanks and I go on my way. As I am walking to my car it dawns on me!!! He was totally flirting with me!! Dang it! He was cute too! He said I looked young and he asked me for my phone number!! Could I be any more clueless?! Urgh!!!!

Quacking at the Seventies

Awkward moments define my life. Embarrassing moments are a daily occurrence. Here is the latest......
I work at J C Penney Portraits Studio as a photographer. I mostly take pictures of little tiny kids and babies, so I have to act like a dork a lot, its the only way to get them to smile. My ultimate trick is to quack like a duck for the kids, it gets the smile every time guaranteed! I quack A LOT in my job!!! Well today I had an older couple come in to get some pictures for their mission. As I got them in place and raised the camera pure instinct kicked in and I started making quacking noises at them to get them to smile. Um.... they are OLD! Like seventies old!! So I could have just asked them to smile. When I realized what I had just done I started laughing but they just didn't get the joke. I quickly explained that I work with too many kids all day, but I don't think they really knew what that meant. I tried to keep control but I was feeling pretty embarrassed for quacking at the seventy year olds, so needless to say that whole sitting was one big helping of awkward! I couldn't stop laughing, they couldn't see what was so funny or why I was quacking at them. I finally got through it though and got some pretty decent shots if I do say so myself! But honestly, I think that was one of the most painful sittings I have ever taken! And that includes the two year old triplets!! Not to mention I will be hearing about this one for a VERY long time from my co-workers!!! Sheesh!

DAVID VS: DAVID

The wrong David won! I have never been so disappointed in an American Idol finale as I am right now. I know its just a show and I take it way too seriously, but David Cook is cocky and arrogant and old! David Archuletta is so sweet and totally deserved it more than Cook!! I am sorta kinda really ticked off right now! Ahhhhh! ARCHULETTA'S AWESOME!!! 'Nuff said! Phew, glad I got that off my chest! ha ha

Hello? Is anybody there? I'M LONELY!

So I moved into Old Farm this week with high expectations.... too high! Now don't get me wrong, the apartment itself is amazing! I have my own room, own bathroom, own closet, and an awesome view....its great!! But its lonely, so so so lonely! I have lived there for four days now and can count the MINUTES spent with my roommates, or anyone else for that matter, on ONE HAND! I have two roommates - Betsy and Chelsey. They both go to work before I do, and come home a lot later too. When they come home they pass my door, poke their head in and say a quick hello, and then go to their rooms to change. Betsy then goes off with her boyfriend and Chelsey goes off with a bunch of her friends. I am alone in the morning before work. I am alone in the afternoon after work. I am alone at night before I go to bed. Basically I am alone all of the freaking time! At first I thought this would be an improvment in the roommate department - the only thing my last roommates did was fight with each other. Ya, that got old fast! But I almost think that not seeing anyone is worse than the fighting....almost. Last summer I had three amazing friends - Jason, Ryan, and Alejandra. We were practically joined at the hip all summer! It was just a given that we would spend EVERY night with one another! Well, Jason is on a mission, Alejandra has graduated, and Ryan and I have completely oppsoite working schedules! What's a girl to do??

The First Blog

I got this just because everyone told me that I had too! I am a sucker for peer pressure! I am not exactly sure what I should be writing right now. As this is my first time ever blog I feel like I should say something profoundly interesting, but I got nothin! So....I will just tell you about my week eh?

This week has been quite a hectic one! Its finals week here at USU which means tempers were on the rise! There was an unbearable amount of girl drama in Rich 201, I think everyone just hates everyone else and it is a good thing that no one will be living together next year. Trying to pack, clean, and move is a tiring and frustrating process that I am just not a fan of! Luckily my week ended well though! I got to go to Women's Conference with my mom and sister in Provo. It was a much needed spiritual lift for me! I got to be in the same room as the prophet and the feeling he brings with him is indescribable! I was sad to leave and wish it could have lasted just a little longer. I am now back in Rich Hall for the last time, packing and cleaning. All of my roommates are gone, so it is pretty much a ghost town around here. Not gonna lie, its kind of creepy!! I move out tomorrow (Sunday) and then on Monday I am moving into Old Farm which I am so incredibly stoked about!! And the best part is that I don't have to go back to work until Tuesday! Woot Woot for me!

The Divine Calling of Motherhood

It's late. I need to be in bed right now, but the pull to write is stronger than the pull of my night time meds, so .... here I am. T...
